Cr Kristine Olaris OAM is the Mayor of Darebin, and Councillor for the Central Ward.

Having called Darebin home for nearly 35 years and with a proud a Macedonian migrant background, she is committed to ensuring Darebin is an inclusive, sustainable and connected community.

Throughout her career, Mayor Olaris has been an influential leader in the not-for-profit sector, with substantial experience in legal, women’s, community, and health organisations, previously serving as the CEO at Fitzroy Legal Service, and Women’s Health East. She holds a Master of Health Administration and has completed the AICD Directors Course.

Mayor Olaris has two decades of governance experience, working with a range of organisations from neighbourhood houses to peak bodies, and government boards and committees. She currently is a member of the Our Equal State Reference Group, providing advice to the State government on the implementation of the Victorian Gender Equality Strategy and Action Plan.

Driven by a commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion, Mayor Olaris was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2024 for outstanding service and contributions to the Victorian community.
